These are clauses that are usually found in contracts of employment
which aim to restrict the employee from doing certain things after
his/her employment has ceased with that particular employer. This
can be something as simple as engaging or “poaching”
employees and/or clients and in some instances, restrictive covenants
can prohibit a person from continuing in the same line of work for
a specified period of time in order to protect legitimate business
interests. These restrictions can be challenged on their fairness
and scope but please note that not all challenges will be successful.
